Vision Project

Vision for the development of The Metropolitan Sanctuary, Nyeri.

The Metropolitan Sanctuary is an important centre for the treatment of children with disabilities without consideration of social status, colour, religion or race. In the light of this, we greatly desire to touch the lives of more families and children by having a modern facility that is well equipped to carry out the mandate of the Sanctuary in a more effective way.
The new building project will extend its scope further transforming The Metropolitan Sanctuary into a centre of Excellence for the Treatment of Disability. The current provisions at The Sanctuary will be improved through better facilities, namely: Clinic and therapy services, Day Care Centre, Rescue centre for vulnerable children, Assistive Cardboard Equipment Workshop, Manufacture of prosthetics and Orthotic equipment
Furthermore, the plans include the construction of various new facilities including: nformation Centre, Accommodation rooms, teaching rooms, Treatment rooms, Gymnasium and Hydrotherapy pool This will greatly enhance the services on offer at The Metropolitan Sanctuary making a difference to the lives of countless children suffering from disabilities in the region.
In addition to the building project, we have recently begun a partnership with the Engineering Department of the University of Cambridge, researching the production of thermoplastics from recycled materials. We hope to use engineering skills and modern production techniques to develop these, which will in turn contribute towards the production of our orthotic devices. If successful, Nyeri will be the centre of operations for this new and exciting venture.
As these new projects take shape, we see opportunities for The Sanctuary to work with Nyeri County Government towards a better future for the disabled people in the area. As a result, we believe that Nyeri could become a model county in the treatment of people with disabilities within Kenya.
